Khabib reveals why Cristiano Ronaldo left Juventus
Cristiano Ronaldo's return to Manchester United just a couple of days before the close of the transfer window was one of the stories of the summer.
The 36-year-old had been heavily linked with a move to United's cross-city rivals, Manchester City, but instead he opted for the red side of Manchester in a dramatic U-turn after City pulled out of the race for his signature.
Ronaldo said goodbye to Juventus to go back to Old Trafford, but he didn't give an explanation as to why he left the Italian side, where he spent the last three years.
However, former UFC fighter and close friend of Ronaldo, Khabib Nurmagomedov, has claimed that the Portuguese forward departed Juventus because he was bored.
"I wouldn't like to reveal our private chat. Well, he told me that he was bored in Italy and that he would like to move to England," Khabib told Sport24.
"I'm also not a fan of Italian football, [but with] the English Premier League I won't switch over. Any team there can put on a show."
When asked to compare Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, Khabib said that they are both great players but that the former is more charismatic.
"Cristiano has been at the top for 17 years," said the Russian.
"In 2004 he was in the final at the European Championship, and now it's 2021 and he's still scoring.
"There's never been a phenomenon like that in football... I think Messi's been at his peak for about 12 years, and Cristiano 17."
