Zaaki Azzay accuses Mr Eazi and Sarkodie of stealing lines from his song (video)

- Nigerian veteran musician, Zaaki Azzay, has accused his colleagues Mr Eazi and Sarkodie of copyrights infringement

- Zaaki claims the duo took lines from his 1996 hit song, Marry Am, without permission

- The Marry Am crooner explained further that there has been a “massive violation" of his musical copyright dues

Many talented musicians have been known to sample lines or beats from popular songs as they remodel it to make their own track. Well, this does not always go down well with the original singers especially if no permission was given for their work to be used.

As it seems, quite a number of African musicians appear not to take copyright infringements seriously as they often fall victim of a calling out on social media over the issue.

Just recently, veteran musician, Zaaki Azzay, called out two of his colleagues, Mr Eazi and Sarkodie, as he accused them of copyright infringement.

According to Zaaki, the duo lifted lines from his 1996 monster hit song, Marry Am, without permission. He also explained further that they violated his musical copyright with their illegal exploitation of his intellectual property.

In an open letter shared on Instagram, Zaaki wrote: “Hello @Sarkodie & @MrEazi , this is to let you know that my song "Marry Am" has been lifted in your newly released single "Na You". I released the monster hit way back in 1996, and i want to believe that you guys should know the consequences of copyright infringements.

"This is a massive violation of my musical copyright dues and the illegal exploitation of my intellectual property as i haven't been contacted for permission/approval for the lyrics of my song to be used.

"It's high time African Artistes wake up to know that copyrights violations/infringements is stealing&theft and hence a big crime.

"My next line of actions will be made private for now.... Thank you!!!
